Improving the Quality of Education for Girls

In 2017, ROAWC signed a contract with the Embassy of the Czech Republic in Kabul, Afghanistan, to renovate and equip a computer lab for Zarghoona High School, which is an all-girls schools in Kabul. With the Embassy’s generous support, ROAWC purchased computers, printer and all other equipment  needed to establish a fully-equipped computer lab that students needed and were extremely thankful to have it. 

Being able to implement its first project with great sucess, ROAWC and the Embassy of Czech Republic developed a trustworthy partnership which led to many more projects aimed at the provision of best education for Afghan girls. Over a three-year period, ROAWC, with the financial support from the Embassy of Czech Republic, implemented several projects in two girls’ schools in Kabul that has enabled hundreds of young girls have access to better education. 

The subsequent projects that were funded by the Embassy of Czech Republic included equipping laboratories of two girls’ high schools in Kabul. Full sets of laboratory equipment for math, physics, biology and chemistry were provided to both schools. Before this project, the student only learned theories without the laboratories where they could do scientific experimentation. With the labs fully equipped, the students and teachers are happy to be able to conduct experiments and practice what they learn in theory. 

Ever since the computer lab was equipped and handed over to the school administration, it has been instrumental in advancing girls computer literacy and thus their interest in pursuing study outside classrooms. The school administration and the students have expressed their sincere gratitude to both the Embassy of Czech Republic in Kabul and ROAWC for providing with an opportunity to learn how to use a computer. “This lab is the key to girls’ motivation for pursing higher education,” the school principal remarked recently in a meeting with ROAWC.
